Deer Hunting in Karnes County Has Specific Buck Restrictions
Hunters in Karnes County can take up to four deer per season, but only one buck can have a wide antler spread.
Texas Parks and Wildlife sets deer hunting rules for each county. In Karnes County, you may take up to four deer per season. No more than two of those can be bucks. No more than two can be antlerless deer. Those limits cover all seasons combined.
Of your two bucks, only one may have an inside antler spread of 13 inches or more. The other buck must have at least one unbranched antler.
If you take an antlerless deer during archery, youth-only, muzzleloader, or designated doe-day periods in the general season, you must report it within 24 hours. Use the Texas Hunt and Fish mobile app or the TPWD website to report. Most public hunting in Texas also requires a permit. Seasons, bag limits, and reporting rules can change each year. Always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual for Karnes County before you hunt.
