Two separate offices handle your property taxes in Bosque County
The Bosque Central Appraisal District sets your property value and handles exemptions; the Bosque County Tax Office sends your bill and collects payment.
Two separate offices handle your property taxes in Bosque County. The Bosque Central Appraisal District — called Bosque CAD — decides what your property is worth. It also processes applications for tax exemptions. The Bosque County Tax Assessor-Collector sends your tax bill and collects the money. Both offices are in Meridian but at different addresses.
The homestead exemption is a big help for Texas homeowners. To qualify, you must own the home and live in it as your main residence on January 1 of the tax year. Most school districts in Bosque County give a $140,000 general homestead exemption. Homeowners 65 and older or those with a disability can get more. The county itself does not offer a general homestead exemption, but it does honor disabled veteran exemptions.
To apply, download the form from bosquecad.com. Mail or bring it to Bosque CAD at 9293 Highway 6, Meridian. You do not need to reapply each year unless the chief appraiser asks you to. Check bosquecad.com for current exemption amounts and deadlines, because they can change.
