Hartley County Offers Mule Deer, Pronghorn, Pheasant, and Quail Hunting

Hartley County's Panhandle grasslands have mule deer, pronghorn, pheasant, quail, dove, and duck. Most land is private, so you need landowner permission to hunt.

Hartley County falls within Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) hunting zones. Those zones cover mule deer, pronghorn antelope, pheasant, quail, dove, and duck.

Mule deer general season runs in late November and early December. There is also an earlier archery season. Pronghorn antelope require a special permit drawn through TPWD. Pronghorn season is short and runs in October.

Pheasant season runs in December and January. Quail season goes from November through late February.

Most land in Hartley County is private ranch and farm land. You must get permission from the landowner or arrange a lease before hunting. Check the TPWD Outdoor Annual for exact current seasons, bag limits, and any zone changes. Rules are updated each year.
