Hunting in Loving County: Mostly Private Land

Loving County sits in the Trans-Pecos region where mule deer and pronghorn live, but nearly all land is private — access requires landowner permission.

Loving County is in the Trans-Pecos region. This is desert country. Mule deer and pronghorn antelope live here. Pronghorn hunting is permit only — Texas Parks and Wildlife Department regulates the harvest through hunt permits and makes them available to qualifying landowners.

Almost all land in Loving County is privately owned. There is very little public land open to hunting. You must get permission from the landowner before you hunt. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) assigns wildlife biologists to the county. They can answer questions about rules and local wildlife. Check the TPWD county page for their contact information. Also verify season dates there before you go.
