Lake Arrowhead State Park offers camping, fishing, and trails in Clay County

Lake Arrowhead State Park sits on a large reservoir in Clay County and offers fishing, camping, hiking, and equestrian trails about 15 minutes south of Wichita Falls.

Lake Arrowhead State Park is located off US 281 and FM 1954 in Clay County, about 15 minutes south of Wichita Falls. The park sits on the north shore of a large reservoir of about 16,000 acres. Visitors can fish, camp, hike, bike, ride horses, paddle, and swim. The park has more than five miles of multi-use trails and birders have recorded over 200 species here.

The lake is known for crappie, bass, and catfish. You do not need a Texas fishing license to fish from shore or from the lighted pier at the park. If you fish from a boat, you need a valid Texas freshwater fishing license. TPWD notes blue catfish as heavily harvested; the lake record for blue cats is 74.7 pounds.

Camping includes water-and-electric sites, water-only sites, primitive walk-in sites, and an equestrian camping area with restrooms and showers available. The daily entrance fee is $4 for adults 13 and up; children 12 and under enter free. Reservations are recommended in spring and summer.
