Property Tax
Two Offices Handle Property Taxes in Ochiltree County
Ochiltree County has two separate offices that handle property tax work. Knowing which one to call saves time.
The Ochiltree County Appraisal District decides what your property is worth. That value is used to figure out your tax bill. The office is at 825 S. Main St., Suite 100, in Perryton. Go there to apply for a homestead exemption, fight your appraised value, or ask about ag-use valuation. The website is ochiltreecad.org.
A different office, the Tax Assessor-Collector, handles vehicle registration and some other county work. But according to the Texas Comptroller, that office does not collect property taxes.
If you have questions about paying your property tax bill, start with the appraisal district. You can also check the Comptroller's county directory to find out which office collects for your taxing unit.
Homestead exemption forms must be filed before May 1. You will need a Texas driver's license or state ID that shows the property address.
