Two Offices Handle Property Tax in Armstrong County
Armstrong County has two separate offices that deal with property tax. They do different jobs.
The Armstrong County Appraisal District decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. It is at 114 Trice Street in Claude, across from the courthouse. This office does not set tax rates or collect taxes. It only figures out your property's taxable value.
The Tax Assessor-Collector is a different office at 100 S. Trice Street. According to the Texas Comptroller, the tax office in Armstrong County does not collect property taxes directly. It does handle vehicle registration and other motor vehicle services.
To file a homestead exemption or apply for an agricultural valuation, call the appraisal district at 806-331-9479. The Texas Comptroller has current contact details for both offices. Tax rates are set by each taxing unit separately. Armstrong County, Claude ISD, Groom ISD, Clarendon ISD, Happy ISD, the City of Claude, and two groundwater conservation districts each set their own rate.
