Property Tax

Two offices handle your property taxes in Zavala County

Zavala County has a separate appraisal district and a tax assessor-collector — they do different jobs, and you need to know which one to contact.

The Zavala Central Appraisal District sets the value of your property. It also handles exemptions like the homestead exemption. If you think your home is over-valued, you protest here. The district is at 323 W. Zavala St. in Crystal City.

The Tax Assessor-Collector is a different office. It sends the bills and collects the money. It is at 200 E. Uvalde St. in Crystal City. If you own a home and live in it as your main residence, ask the appraisal district about the homestead exemption — it can lower your taxable value. Check the Texas Comptroller's county directory for current contact details, because rates and officials can change.
