County Roads in Unincorporated Howard County Are Maintained by the County
If you live outside Big Spring city limits in Howard County, your road may be a county road — maintained by the county, not the city.
Howard County has a Road Administrator who oversees maintenance of public county roads. These are roads that the Commissioners Court has accepted for maintenance. If you live in an unincorporated area — meaning outside any city — your driveway access road may or may not be a county-maintained road.
Interstate 20 and U.S. Highway 87 are the major routes through Howard County. State highways 33, 176, and 350 are also present. For questions about a specific county road, contact the Howard County Road Administrator's office at (432) 264-2208.
