Rodeo Culture

Stephenville Calls Itself the Cowboy Capital of the World

Stephenville has a strong rodeo tradition and calls itself a hub for professional rodeo athletes.

Stephenville has long been a center for professional rodeo and cutting horse competition. The city hosts an annual PRCA rodeo.

Dublin, the other main town in the county, has its own rodeo history. It held the first sanctioned cutting horse contest in 1946. Dublin also had ties to historic rodeo production through Everett Colborn's operation.

If you are moving to Erath County, the cowboy culture is real and easy to see. You will notice it in the ranches, feed stores, horse facilities, and local events.

That culture shapes what services are available, what land uses are common, and the general feel of the community.
