Deer Hunting in Irion County Has a Generous Bag Limit

Irion County falls in the Texas North Zone for white-tailed deer, which allows up to five deer per season with a two-buck limit.

Irion County is in the North Zone for white-tailed deer hunting. For the 2025-26 season, hunters can take up to five deer total, with no more than two being bucks. This limit covers all seasons combined — archery, general, and youth seasons. Pronghorn antelope are also present but require a special permit for the specific property.

Almost all land in Irion County is private ranch land. You need landowner permission to hunt. TPWD does offer an Annual Public Hunting Permit that covers some state-managed lands across Texas, but Irion County has no state wildlife management area of its own. Always check the current Outdoor Annual for season dates and rules — they can change year to year.
