Deer Hunting in Erath County Has Antler Restrictions

Erath County falls under Texas North Zone deer rules, including a limit on how many wide-racked bucks you can take per season.

Erath County is in the Texas North Zone for white-tailed deer. The bag limit is four deer total per season — no more than two bucks and two antlerless deer combined. There is an antler restriction: of the two bucks you take, only one may have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. A legal buck must have at least one unbranched antler or an inside spread of 13 inches or greater.

Turkey hunting is also allowed. The annual turkey bag limit is four birds. Spring gobbler season typically runs late March through mid-May; fall turkey season runs concurrently with the general deer season. Mandatory harvest reporting applies — you must report through the TPWD mobile app or website. Always check the current Outdoor Annual for exact season dates before you hunt, as dates shift year to year.
