Deer Hunting in Jefferson County Has Antler Restrictions

Jefferson County falls in the North Deer Zone with a bag limit of four deer per season, but only one buck may have an inside antler spread of 13 inches or more.

Jefferson County is in the TPWD North Deer Zone. The combined season bag limit is four deer: no more than two bucks and no more than two antlerless. Of the two bucks you can take, only one may have an inside antler spread of 13 inches or greater. A legal buck must have either an unbranched antler or meet the 13-inch minimum.

Seasons for 2025-2026 include an archery-only period in late September and October, a general season from November through early January, and late youth and muzzleloader seasons in January. Alligator season runs for about three weeks in September with a bag limit of one per valid CITES tag. Always check the TPWD Outdoor Annual at tpwd.texas.gov for the current season dates and rules before heading out.
