Young County Has Antler Rules for Deer Hunters
Deer hunters in Young County can take up to 5 deer per season, but antler restrictions limit which bucks are legal to harvest.
Young County falls under a buck antler restriction set by Texas Parks and Wildlife. You may take up to 5 deer total across all seasons combined, with no more than 2 bucks. Of those 2 bucks, only one can have an inside antler spread of 13 inches or more. The other must be either a spike (unbranched antler) or have a spread under 13 inches.
The rule is designed to protect young bucks and let them grow. Archery season typically opens in late September. General season runs from November into early January. A youth-only season also runs in October and again in January. Check the TPWD Outdoor Annual each year for the exact dates, since seasons and bag limits can change.
