Two Offices Handle Your Property Tax in Young County
Young County has a separate appraisal district and tax assessor-collector office, and the tax office does not collect property taxes directly.
Young County has two offices that deal with property tax. The Young Central Appraisal District sets the value of your property. It is at 505 5th St. in Graham. You file for a homestead exemption there, and you protest your value there if you think it is wrong. The general deadline to file for a homestead exemption is before May 1 of the tax year.
A separate office, the Young County Tax Office at 417 2nd St. in Graham, handles the assessor-collector role. However, the Comptroller lists it as not collecting property taxes directly. That means each taxing unit (city, school district, hospital district) may bill and collect on its own. Check with the appraisal district or your taxing unit if you are unsure where to pay.
