Deer hunting rules for Sutton County
Sutton County falls in the North Zone for white-tailed deer and has specific bag limits and season dates set each year by Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Sutton County is in the North Zone for white-tailed deer hunting. The general bag limit is five deer total for all seasons combined, with no more than two bucks. Archery-only and general seasons run in the fall, and there are youth-only seasons as well. Seasons and limits can change year to year, so always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual before you hunt.
Turkey, quail, javelina, and sandhill cranes are also legal to hunt in the county, each with their own seasons and limits. All hunters need a valid Texas hunting license. If a property uses the Managed Lands Deer Program (MLDP), special tags may apply. Harvest reporting is required for wild turkey — you must report through the TPWD app or website.
