Deer Hunting in Waller County Has Specific Buck Rules

Hunters in Waller County can take up to four deer per season, but rules on bucks are specific and antlerless deer require mandatory reporting.

The bag limit is four deer: no more than two bucks and no more than two antlerless deer. Of the two bucks, only one may have an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. The second buck must have at least one unbranched antler. These are Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) rules for Waller County specifically — they can differ from neighboring counties.

Dove hunting is also popular in the county. Waller County sits in a split zone divided by Interstate 10, so season dates for doves differ north and south of I-10. Quail season runs November through late February. Waterfowl hunters need federal and state licenses and a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement. Check the TPWD Outdoor Annual each season — rules and dates change.
