Enchanted Rock Requires a Reservation on Busy Days

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area sits near Fredericksburg and draws large crowds, so planning ahead is essential.

Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite dome on the Gillespie-Llano county line, about 18 miles north of Fredericksburg. It rises about 425 feet above the base of the park and covers roughly 640 acres. The park has nearly 11 miles of trails for hiking, rock climbing, camping, and stargazing. Entry for adults is $8 per day; children 12 and under enter free.

The park is one of the most visited in the Texas state park system, and the busy season runs September through May. On weekends and holidays, the park fills up fast and may turn people away at the gate. Reserve your day-use pass or camping spot online through TPWD or call 512-389-8900 before you go. The Summit Trail may close in wet weather, and pets are restricted to certain areas.
