Water Wells
Private Wells in Wise County Tap the Trinity and Woodbine Aquifers
Rural Wise County residents rely on private water wells, and the area sits over the Northern Trinity and Woodbine aquifers.
Much of Wise County is outside public water service areas. Rural landowners drill private wells into the Northern Trinity and Woodbine aquifers. These aquifers supply water to a large swath of North Texas, and demand is growing as the DFW metro expands.
The Texas Water Development Board tracks water well records across the state. The TCEQ also maintains a Water Well Report Viewer with records for over 800,000 wells. If you are buying rural land, check whether the property has a permitted well and review the driller's log. Water quality and yield can vary by location.
