Homestead Exemption

How to File a Homestead Exemption in Concho County

If your home is your main residence, a homestead exemption can lower the taxable value — you file the form with the Concho County Appraisal District.

A homestead exemption reduces the amount of your home's value that gets taxed. Texas school districts are required to give homeowners a $140,000 exemption on a primary residence. Other local taxing units can add more. You must live in the home as your main residence to qualify.

File Form 50-114 with the Concho County Appraisal District (121 S. Roberts Ave., Paint Rock). There is generally a filing deadline each year — check the appraisal district or the Texas Comptroller's website for the current date, since deadlines can change.
