Hunting License
Every hunter in Texas needs a license, no matter their age
Texas requires a hunting license for every person who hunts any animal or bird, with no age exemption, except for feral hogs on private land with landowner permission.
In Texas, anyone who hunts any animal, bird, frog, or turtle must have a valid hunting license. There is no exemption based on age — children need a license too. Resident licenses cost less than nonresident licenses. You buy them online through TPWD, at sporting goods stores, or at other licensed retailers.
Some game requires extra endorsements on top of the base license. Dove and ducks need a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement. Quail and turkey need an Upland Game Bird Endorsement. Waterfowl hunters also need a federal Duck Stamp. One exception: you can hunt feral hogs on private property with landowner permission and no license, but you still need a license for all other game.
