Hunting in Bee County: Seasons, Limits, and Restricted Areas

Bee County is in the South Zone for deer and turkey hunting. State law bans hunting along the Aransas River and Poesta Creek.

Bee County is in the Texas South Zone for white-tailed deer and wild turkey. South Zone deer seasons usually open in late September for archery and run through mid-January for the general season. The bag limit is five deer. Turkey bag limits and dates are set by Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD) and change each year. Always check the current Outdoor Annual before you hunt.

There is one important rule to know. TPWD bans hunting with any firearm or bow on all land and water along the Aransas River and Poesta Creek in Bee County. The only exception is waterfowl hunting on government-owned or maintained reservoirs. Breaking this rule can result in wildlife code penalties.

Most hunting in Bee County is on private land. The Bee County Wildlife Management Association is a group of private landowners working with TPWD on habitat, but being a member does not open their land to the public. Always confirm access with the landowner. For current seasons, bag limits, and license rules, use the TPWD Outdoor Annual website or app.
