Hunting in Kinney County: What You Need to Know

Kinney County offers a wide range of legal game, but bag limits and required licenses vary by species and by which side of U.S. 90 your land sits on.

TPWD divides Kinney County at U.S. Highway 90 for some hunting regulations. White-tailed deer bag limits differ north and south of that road. South of U.S. 90, hunters may take up to 3 bucks per season; north of it the limit drops to 2. The county-wide bag limit is 5 deer total per season. Wild turkey requires an Upland Game Bird Endorsement, and harvests must be reported through the TPWD app or website.

Dove, duck, teal, sandhill crane, and other migratory birds require a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement plus federal HIP certification, and waterfowl hunters also need a Federal Duck Stamp. Javelina may be taken year-round with a bag limit of 2 per license year. Quail season runs roughly November through February with a daily limit of 15. Check the TPWD Outdoor Annual for exact current-season dates before you go — seasons and dates change year to year.
