Lake Cypress Springs Offers Public Fishing and Boating
Lake Cypress Springs is a 3,461-acre reservoir in Franklin County open to the public for fishing, boating, and recreation.
Lake Cypress Springs sits on Cypress Creek about 15 miles northwest of Pittsburg. It covers roughly 3,461 acres and reaches 56 feet deep. The lake was impounded in 1970. TPWD surveys show good numbers of largemouth bass, white bass, channel catfish, bluegill, and redear sunfish.
The public can access the lake at five parks around the shoreline: Walleye Park, Guthrie Park, Overlook Park, Dogwood Park, and Mary King Park. A Texas fishing license is required. One rule to know: if you catch a grass carp, you must release it immediately — a Triploid Grass Carp Permit is in effect. Check TPWD for current fishing reports and access details.
