Lake Gonzales Offers Good Bass and Crappie Fishing

Lake Gonzales is a 696-acre reservoir on the Guadalupe River watershed with publicly accessible fishing for bass, crappie, and catfish.

Lake Gonzales sits about 12 miles west of the city of Gonzales on US 90A. The reservoir covers 696 acres and was impounded in 1931. According to TPWD, white crappie are the top-rated fish here — crappie is rated excellent, especially in fall. Largemouth bass are also present and rated good. Catfish — blue, channel, and flathead — are also common.
