Lake Livingston Is a Major Fishing Lake in East Texas

Lake Livingston covers about 90,000 surface acres on the Trinity River and is rated excellent for blue catfish and white bass.

Lake Livingston straddles Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, and Walker counties. The lake is rated excellent for catfish — especially blue catfish — and white bass. Largemouth bass and crappie are present but rated poor. Sunfish are rated good. You can fish from a boat, a pier, or the bank. Multiple public boat ramps provide lake access.

A Texas fishing license is required. The lake has a consumption advisory in effect — check TPWD for current advisories before eating your catch. Zebra mussels have invaded this lake. Texas law requires you to clean, drain, and dry your boat, trailer, and gear before moving to another water body. Possessing or transporting zebra mussels is illegal.
