Lake Livingston State Park opened in 1977 and sits on about 635 acres along the southeastern shore of the lake. It is about one hour north of Houston. Activities include swimming, fishing, boating, hiking, mountain biking, bird watching, camping, and picnicking. The park has three boat ramps, a fishing pier, and two fish cleaning stations.
Campsites include tent sites, RV hookups, and screened shelters. The daily entrance fee for adults is $6; children 12 and under get in free. The park often fills up on weekends, so book ahead at texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com or call 512-389-8900. Hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
