Lake Palestine Offers Year-Round Fishing in Cherokee County

Lake Palestine is a 25,560-acre reservoir on the Neches River with strong populations of bass, catfish, crappie, and hybrid striped bass.

Lake Palestine sits on the Neches River, about 15 miles southwest of Tyler on Texas Highway 155. Part of the lake falls within Cherokee County. TPWD rates white and hybrid striped bass fishing as excellent, catfish as excellent, and largemouth bass as good. Multiple public boat ramps and private marinas provide access.

Key regulations as of the most recent TPWD rules: largemouth bass must be at least 14 inches, with a daily bag limit of 5. Blue and channel catfish have a combined daily limit of 25, with no more than 5 fish over 20 inches. Always check current regulations before fishing, as limits can change. A valid Texas fishing license is required. Texas law requires draining all water from your boat and onboard receptacles when leaving public fresh waters to combat the spread of invasive zebra mussels.
