Lake Ray Hubbard borders Rockwall County and offers public access
Lake Ray Hubbard is a large reservoir that forms the western edge of Rockwall County and provides fishing, boating, and shoreline access close to the DFW metro.
Lake Ray Hubbard sits on the East Fork Trinity River. Construction started in 1964 and finished in 1969. The City of Dallas owns the Rockwall-Forney Dam and operates the lake through Dallas Water Utilities as a water supply reservoir. The lake spans parts of Collin, Dallas, Kaufman, and Rockwall counties. The Texas Water Development Board lists a current conservation-pool surface area of about 20,947 acres.
The lake is open for public recreation including fishing, boating, and shoreline use. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department publishes fishing reports for Lake Ray Hubbard at tpwd.texas.gov. Check the Texas Water Development Board reservoir page for current storage levels.
