Paducah Is Where Two Major US Highways Cross in Cottle County

Paducah, the only incorporated city in Cottle County, sits at the intersection of US Highway 70 and US Highway 83.

Paducah is the county seat and the main service center for Cottle County. US Highway 70 runs east to west and US Highway 83 runs north to south. They cross in the middle of town. These are the main paved routes in and out of the county. There is no interstate nearby.

If you are driving to or through Cottle County, Paducah is where you will find gas, groceries, and services. The town was named by an early settler who came from Paducah, Kentucky. He donated land to encourage people to vote for it as the county seat. Its early growth came from ranching supply trade and then the railroad. Today it serves as the farm and ranch hub for the surrounding area. For current road conditions, check the TxDOT DriveTexas website before traveling county roads, especially after heavy rain.
