Who Sets Your Property Value in Houston County

The Houston County Appraisal District sets property values; a separate tax office collects the bills.

Two offices handle property taxes here. The Houston County Appraisal District assigns a value to your property each year. That value drives what you owe. The district is at 1512-B E. Loop 304 in Crockett. If you think your value is wrong, you can protest it. The district lets you file protests online at houstoncad.org.

The tax assessor-collector is a different office at 401 E. Goliad Ave. in Crockett. That office sends bills and takes payments. Tax statements go out around October 1. You have until January 31 of the next year to pay without penalty. Check both offices for your specific account details.
