Who handles property taxes in Sherman County

Two separate offices handle property taxes here — one sets values, the other collects the bill.

The Sherman County Appraisal District (SCAD) sets the appraised value of your property. That value is used by all taxing units in the county — including the county itself, school districts, and cities — to calculate what you owe. SCAD is located at 402 N. 3rd St. in Stratford. You can reach them at 806-366-5566 or at shermancad.org.

A separate office, the Tax Assessor-Collector, sends the bills and takes your payments. That office is also at 402 N. 3rd St. If you think your appraised value is wrong, you protest with the appraisal district — not the tax office.
