Property Tax

Two offices handle your property taxes in Somervell County

The appraisal district sets your property value; a separate tax office collects the bill.

In Somervell County, two offices handle property taxes. The Somervell County Appraisal District sets the appraised value of your property each year. That value is the starting point for your tax bill. The appraisal district is at 112 Allen Dr. in Glen Rose.

A separate office — the Somervell County Tax Assessor-Collector — sends out bills and collects payments. It sits at 107 N.E. Vernon St. in Glen Rose. Eight taxing units, including the county, Glen Rose ISD, the City of Glen Rose, a water district, and a hospital district, each set their own tax rate on top of the appraised value. If you think your value is too high, you file a protest with the appraisal district. Check the Comptroller's county directory for current contact details and deadlines.
