Two Offices Handle Your Property Tax in Moore County

Moore County splits property tax duties between two offices — one sets your value, the other collects the bill.

The Moore County Appraisal District (CAD) decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. It also handles exemptions like the homestead exemption, which lowers the taxable value of your main home. To apply, you need a copy of your driver's license or other identification as required by the Texas Property Tax Code. You file the application once, and it stays on record. The CAD is at 419 Success Blvd., Dumas.

A separate office — the Moore County Tax Assessor/Collector — sends your bill and takes your payment. These are two different offices doing two different jobs. If you think your value is wrong, you protest at the CAD, not the tax office. Check the Texas Comptroller's county directory for current contact details, since rates and officials can change from year to year.
