Who handles your property tax in Reeves County

Two separate offices handle property taxes in Reeves County — one sets your value, the other collects the bill.

The Reeves County Appraisal District decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. It is located at 403 S. Cypress St. in Pecos. You go there to protest your value or apply for exemptions. The appraisal district's website is reeves-cad.org and its phone is 432-445-5122.

A separate office, the Tax Assessor-Collector, sends out bills and collects payments. That office is at 424 S. Cypress St. in Pecos. Phone: 432-287-0223. If you own the home you live in as your main residence, you can apply for a homestead exemption. Texas law requires school districts to exempt $140,000 of your home's value from school taxes. File your application with the appraisal district before May 1 of the tax year. Rates and deadlines can change — check with the district for current details.
