Property Tax

Two offices handle your property taxes here

In Hudspeth County, one office sets your property value and a separate office handles vehicle registration. Neither office is the same as your property tax collector.

Two offices deal with property in Hudspeth County, and it helps to know which does what.

The Hudspeth County Appraisal District sets the taxable value of your land and buildings. It is at 103 Millican St. in Sierra Blanca. Nine separate taxing units each set their own tax rate on top of that value. Those nine units include three school districts, the City of Dell City, water districts, and emergency services districts.

The county tax assessor-collector is a different office. It handles vehicle registration. According to the Texas Comptroller, it does not collect property taxes in Hudspeth County.

If you have a question about your property value or a homestead exemption, go to the appraisal district. The state requires a $140,000 school district homestead exemption. You apply for it through the appraisal district.
