Ray Roberts Lake State Park offers camping, trails, and fishing near Denton
Ray Roberts Lake State Park sits about 10 miles north of Denton and has three overnight units, a 20-mile multiuse trail corridor, and fishing on a 29,000-acre reservoir.
The park has three main units with camping and facilities: Johnson Branch, Isle du Bois, and Jordan. Six satellite units have boat ramps but no camping. A 20-mile Greenbelt Corridor connects Ray Roberts Dam to Lake Lewisville for hiking, biking, and equestrian use.
The lake holds largemouth bass, crappie, white bass, catfish, and sunfish. Two marinas serve boaters. Note that zebra mussels are present — boaters must clean, drain, and dry all gear before leaving. Daily admission fees apply for adults; children 12 and under are free. Check tpwd.texas.gov for current rates and reservations.
