Water service in Rockwall city is governed by city ordinance

The City of Rockwall runs water service within city limits and sets the rules for connections, usage, and billing through its city ordinance.

Inside the City of Rockwall, the city runs water service. The rules are in the city's code of ordinances — Chapter 44, Article V. Those rules cover things like connection fees and meter requirements. The ordinance may also cover drought restrictions. Check the current city code for specifics. The city gets much of its water from Lake Ray Hubbard.

If you live outside city limits, your water provider may be different. Homes in unincorporated Rockwall County or in a subdivision served by a Municipal Utility District (MUD) often get water from a separate district. A MUD is a special local district set up to provide water and sewer in newer developments.

Before buying a home, find out who supplies your water, who handles sewer, and whether the property uses a septic system. This can affect your monthly costs and who you call when something goes wrong.
