Seven school districts serve Wise County: Alvord ISD, Boyd ISD, Bridgeport ISD, Chico ISD, Decatur ISD, Paradise ISD, and Slidell ISD. School taxes are usually the biggest share of a property tax bill.

Each district sets its own tax rate. Two homes near each other can be in different districts — and have very different school tax bills. District lines do not always follow what looks like a natural boundary on a map.

Before you buy, confirm which district covers the address. This is especially important near town limits, where lines can be hard to see. The Texas Comptroller's county directory lists all seven districts and their contact details.
