Sea Rim State Park Offers Beach and Marsh at the Same Spot

Sea Rim State Park in southeastern Jefferson County has nearly two miles of Gulf beach next to thousands of acres of coastal marsh — a rare combination for camping, fishing, and birding.

Sea Rim State Park sits on State Highway 87, about 10 miles west of Sabine Pass in the far southeastern corner of Jefferson County. It has approximately 4,000 acres of marshland and almost two miles of Gulf shoreline. Visitors can camp, fish from the shore, kayak marked marsh trails, or walk the Gambusia Nature Trail boardwalk. The park is part of the Great Texas Wildlife Trails — Sabine Loop.

Alligators live in the park, so follow posted rules. Mosquitoes are present year-round — bring repellent. The park can fill to capacity, especially from April through July, so make reservations. As of the time this note was written, day-use entry was $4 for adults and free for children 12 and under. Check tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/sea-rim for current fees, reservations, and any alerts.
