Short-Term Rental Rules
Beaumont Requires a Permit to Run an Airbnb-Style Rental
In the City of Beaumont, renting a home for fewer than 30 days requires an annual STR permit and a hotel occupancy tax certificate. Advertising without one can bring a fine.
The City of Beaumont has rules for short-term rentals (STRs). An STR is any home rented for pay for fewer than 30 days in a row — like a listing on Airbnb or VRBO.
You must get an annual STR permit from the Planning and Community Development Department. You must also register for a hotel occupancy tax certificate through the Texas Comptroller.
As of the time this note was written, the annual permit cost was $185 total. Your permit number must appear in any listing. You must be fully compliant before you advertise the property. Not having a permit can result in a fine.
If your property is outside Beaumont's city limits, check with Jefferson County directly. County-level STR rules may differ from the city's rules.
