Property Appraisal
Who Appraises Your Property in Tarrant County
The Tarrant Appraisal District (TAD) sets the value of your property each year, and that value determines how much tax you owe.
TAD is separate from the tax office that collects your bill. TAD's only job is to decide what your property is worth. Then other taxing bodies — the county, city, and school district — set their own tax rates. They each send you a bill based on TAD's value.
TAD does not collect money. It only sets the value. If you think TAD valued your property too high, you have the right to protest. Call TAD at 817-284-0024 or go to tad.org. TAD is also your first stop for homestead exemptions and other tax savings.
