Fishing License

A Texas fishing license is required on most public waters

Any resident or nonresident who fishes public waters in Taylor County must have a valid Texas fishing license with the appropriate freshwater endorsement.

If you fish in public waters in Taylor County — rivers, lakes, or reservoirs — you must have a valid Texas fishing license. Both residents and nonresidents need one. Freshwater fishing requires a freshwater endorsement on your license. The exception is fishing from shore inside a Texas State Park boundary, where no license is required.

Licenses can be bought online through TPWD, at sporting goods stores, or at other authorized retailers. A one-day license is available for visitors who want to fish just once. License fees and package options change periodically, so check the current prices on the TPWD website before you buy.
