Two Offices Handle Your Property Tax in Rains County

One office figures out what your property is worth; a separate office actually sends the bill and collects the money.

Rains County has two different offices that handle property taxes. The Rains County Appraisal District sets the value of your property. It does not collect taxes. The Tax Assessor-Collector is the office that sends your bill and takes payment. New property owners often call the wrong office first.

The appraisal district is at 145 Doris Briggs Pkwy in Emory and can be reached at 903-473-2391. The Tax Assessor-Collector is at 167 E. Quitman St., Suite 103 in Emory. If you want to dispute your home's value, contact the appraisal district. If you need to pay or have questions about your tax bill, contact the Tax Assessor-Collector. The Texas Comptroller lists both offices and all taxing units for Rains County on its county directory page.
