Registering your vehicle in Atascosa County
Texas uses a combined inspection and registration system; Atascosa County residents renew at the tax office in Jourdanton or at a substation in Lytle.
Texas uses the 'Two Steps, One Sticker' system. Step one is getting a passing vehicle safety inspection from a licensed station. Step two is renewing your registration — online, by mail, or in person — before your registration expires. The registration sticker on your windshield serves as proof of both.
The Atascosa County Tax Office handles vehicle titles and registrations. The main office is at 1001 Oak Street in Jourdanton. There is also a full-service office at 1567 FM 3175 in Lytle, open on Mondays and Wednesdays only. Motor vehicle registrations can also be purchased at the H-E-B stores in Pleasanton and Lytle.
For renewals, the TxDMV online portal at txdmv.gov is available if your inspection is already on file. Contact the Atascosa County Tax Office or visit the TxDMV website for current hours, fees, and the documents needed for a new title.
