Vehicle Registration

Wilson County vehicles need a safety inspection before registration renewal

Texas uses a program called Two Steps, One Sticker — get your vehicle inspected first, then renew your registration.

In Texas, you must pass a safety inspection before you can renew your vehicle registration. The program is called Two Steps, One Sticker.

Step one: take your vehicle to an approved inspection station and get it inspected. Step two: renew your registration online, by mail, or in person at the Wilson County Tax Assessor-Collector office. That is the same office that handles property tax collection.

Inspection results go to the state electronically. You no longer get a paper sticker at the inspection station.

If your vehicle fails the inspection, fix the problem first. Then you can register. Check the TxDMV website for a list of approved inspection stations and renewal options.
