Property Tax
Who handles property taxes in Garza County
Two separate offices handle property taxes in Garza County — one sets your value, and a different one collects the bill.
The Garza Central Appraisal District (CAD) decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. It is located at 124 E. Main St. in Post. You deal with this office if you want to protest your value or apply for a homestead exemption.
The Garza County Tax Assessor-Collector is a separate office at 300 W. Main St. in Post. That office sends the tax bills and collects payments. The county has five taxing units: Garza County, the City of Post, Post ISD, Southland ISD, and the Garza County Hospital District. Each sets its own tax rate. Check the Comptroller's county directory or the CAD website for current rates and deadlines, since those change each year.
