Two offices handle your property tax in Fort Bend County

The appraisal district sets your home's value; the tax assessor-collector sends the bill and takes payment.

Fort Bend Central Appraisal District (FBCAD) decides what your property is worth each year. It is based in Rosenberg. The tax assessor-collector in Richmond uses that value to calculate and collect what you owe.

These are two separate offices. If you disagree with your value, contact FBCAD. If you have a question about your bill or payment, contact the tax assessor-collector. Knowing which office handles what saves you a phone call.
