He went on to lead the Texas Playboys and help create Western Swing, a style that blends country, jazz, and big band sounds. Turkey holds an annual Bob Wills Day celebration each April to honor his legacy.

Turkey is a small community in western Hall County. If you are passing through the area on U.S. Highway 83, it is worth a stop to see the Bob Wills Museum and the historical markers in town. The Handbook of Texas, published by the Texas State Historical Association, documents Wills's connection to the county.
