Cleburne State Park sits on the northern edge of the Hill Country, about 30 minutes southwest of Fort Worth. It has a lake where you can fish and use boats at no-wake speed — personal watercraft like jet skis are not allowed, but the park has a boat ramp and motorized boats are permitted. According to TPWD, you do not need a fishing license to fish at Cleburne State Park.

Campsites fill up quickly on weekends. Make a reservation ahead of time on the TPWD website at tpwd.texas.gov. The park is in Cleburne, Texas. Call 817-645-4215 to ask about current conditions before your visit. Hiking and paddling are also popular activities at the park.
